Where the money goes

Every ticket builds something at home

The raffle is not a side stall. It is how the convention leaves something behind in Mbumland.

The funded project is being agreed

The general assembly names one specific development project before ticket sales open in earnest, and it is published on this page with a target figure. A named project — a borehole, a health centre ward, a school block — raises more than a general appeal, and it can be reported on afterwards.

Proceeds go to the project less the cost of the prizes. The figures are read out at the closing session and published in the convention report.

The rules

How the draw works

Drawn at Gala Night, Saturday 31 July 2027.

  • Tickets are €10 each, or €40 for a book of five.
  • The draw takes place at the Gala Night on Saturday 31 July 2027.
  • You must be present in the hall when your number is called. If the holder is not there, we draw again.
  • One ticket, one entry. Buy five and you hold five separate numbers.
  • Numbers are issued when your payment is confirmed. Keep the email — it lists every number you hold.
  • Members of the host committee and their households may buy tickets but cannot win the grand prize.
  • Prizes are as described. Where a prize cannot be delivered as stated, the committee substitutes a prize of equal value.
  • Proceeds go to the development project named by the general assembly, less the cost of the prizes.

Why we draw at the gala

The rule that you must be present is not there to catch anybody out. It is there so the hall is full at the moment that matters, and so nobody drifts back to the hotel before the last dance.

If you cannot attend the gala, you can still buy tickets and nominate someone in the hall to hold them for you. Put their name in the reference field.
